Do you get the feeling....

That something weird is going on with our government? How is it that over t he past 60 or so years, the only two parties to gain power is either the Labor party or the Liberal National party. No matter what happens or what party begins, there has never been any other winners in our political system. Why is that? Some might say we live in a two party preferred system. Well, OK, but why does it have to be THESE two parties? There a re plenty of political parties in our government that could just as easily manage our government. So why these two only?

There are plenty of opinions and thoughts and im sure logical arguments out there as to why these two parties get into power and how they are  the ONLY ones that could possibly run our country. but when you look back in history to where Australia was pre war and in  the 50s and 60s, Australia was  the wealthiest country in the world. Since  then these two parties have run us into the ground where most all families are two income families that can barely keep their heads above water and run the ever present rick of losing everything.

The Preferential system

Many Countries do not understand the preferential system and think that the Party with the most votes wins. The problem with that is that the winning party may only have 20% of t he votes. With the preferential system, the winning party needs to get 50% of the votes plus 1. The way this works is to have the voter select, in senquence who they want to vote for, ie One Nation first, UAP second and so on. Alternatively, they vote for the individuals that are listed under each party or and independent group, below the line. So the way Preferential voting works is as follows:

1. The votes are counted and grouped as a first preference initially;
2. The pile of votes that has the least is eliminated and all of  those votes are then grouped based on the second preference on  the balot paper;
3. The pile of votes that is smallest is again eliminated and t he thrid preference is ordered.

This continues until on party achieved 50% of the votes plus 1.

The problem

The problem, which has been shown quite clearly in t he last federal election (2022),is the AEC and the laws pass by the government to basically bypass this preferential system in favour of the "Two party preferred System".  The problem is once we as voters put out ballots into the box, we have no idea where or what happens to our votes. Scutineers in many oinstances are obstructed and have no real avenue to challenge the count.

The government tells us that they take all "precautions" to ensure your vote is kept "private", be here's the issue with that. The "privacy" allows them to do whatever they want, through the AEC and manipulate the elections to suit themselves. Obviously this is all made "legal" becasue of the bills passed, that most of the population do not know about. so the AEC follows these rules for the "Two parties" meaning there is no possibly way that any other party can claim the top job. So how can we fix this?

The Solution

Basically we need to open ouselves up a little and declare who you voted for outside of the AEC and t he government controll. Some theories state that you complete a Satutory Declaration on who you voted for and send it to the Politician. While this will work, many politicians would not do anything with it.
